Great-- So Much For My Golden Years

Never mind the asteroid, it's the seven years of anarchy before the end that's going to do us in :-(
It took Orwell's "1984" to give us memes against spin and surveillance. We need an "Apophis Descending" - a novel of just what 2031 will be like. Anyone already written one?
