And It's Been All Downhill Since!
Today is the 85th Anniversary of the ratification of the 19th Amendment, guarenteeing women the right to vote. Congratulations!
The upside is that it has made our country far more egalitarian, empowered generations of women, and was the forerunner to the recognition, and gradual diminishing, of glass ceilings for women in business, politics, sports, and many other fields.
The downside is that these people are now allowed to vote:
So, you have to take the bad with the good. Such is life.

You are a major idiot. For one thing, you are posting this crapola from work. WE SEE YOU!! Would a libertarian really waste taxpayer dollars to give some loser following his two cents? That's right, Nick W works for the state, people!!!! Congratulations to women for gaining the right to vote? Downhill since then? If you really believed in giving women the right to vote, then you would know that women will all have various opinions and perhaps not agree with you and that that's ok and that majority rules. If the majority agree with Jennifer Aniston, Jane Fonda, Susan Sarandon, et al, then you would happily accept that. There are plenty of men who are allowed to vote (both good looking and not, but I won't bother to post either's photos) that I would prefer did not, however, I wouldn't take away their right to do it! Congratulations? This should go to the men who denied us the right to vote in the first place for dying off so we could progress to the next generation who would be a little more enlightened. Just because America is the best place on earth doesn't mean there's not room for improvement. Let's start with your attitude.
You struck a nerve with this one, Nick. I guess that I can see this being taken a few different ways:
1. A marking of the 85th anniversary of the 19th Amendment, lamenting the fact that Jessica Simpson, Pam Anderson, and Britney Spears are benneficiaries of said amendment.
2. A tongue-in-cheek excuse to put up pictures of Jessica Simpson, Pam Anderson, and Britney Spears.
3. Both 1 and 2.
4. An insult to all women in America.
I may be wrong, but I took it as the above number 3.

How about this take: generations of women have struggled and fought to achieve a basic set of human rights.
Only to have those rights devolve to making a lot of money by showing your body to horny men.

My guess is that this is one of my friends-- I use the term loosely-- masquerading as an irate moonbat. In which case, bravo-- you strike the right mix of righteous, and wholly overblown, indigation with complete obliviousness to tongue-in-cheek humor. Very nice indeed.
If this is not one of my loosely termed friends, then the writer needs to get a grip. Yes, I work for the state. I believe I've mentioned that several times on this blog. If I meant to keep it a secret that would be pretty stupid, eh? And the rest is clearly humor.
So, if there is an attitude that needs adjusting, Ms. Peeper, I would suggest you try tuning yours to being less defensive and more open to the possibility that people can salute an achievement while making small, tongue-in-cheek, ironic observations about the results of said achievement. I may also note that my selection of women was NOT based on politics-- Britney Spears is a big Bush supporter. My selection was based on their general "air-headedness" which, yes, is also applicable to innumerable men.
To imply that I would wish to take the right to vote away from women is just flat out ludicrous, and no, if the majority agreed with Anniston, Fonda and Sarandon I would not happily accept that. I would grumpily accept that, because that's the way it works, but I happen to believe that their outlook on how to do things is incorrect.
Mostly though, lighten up.
As to whom among my loosely termed friends wrote this particular entry? My guess is Gym Jim.
