Vindication!
All I can say is... HAH!

“Gee found out what gamers have known all along: that there's a lot more to playing videogames than "mindless killing," and, far from being loners and geeks, gamers are (according to a Harvard Business School study) "consistently more social, more confident, and more comfortable solving problems creatively. They also showed no evidence of reduced attention spans compared with nongamers" (p.42). “
Well, now that it’s safe to come out of the closet; I’ll confess: I too am a fantasy gamer! I have a level 18 Gnome Mage on World of Warcraft, and I finished all three commercial chapters of Neverwinter Nights. I’ve played and finished every release of Might and Magic (except number nine) and I’m really looking forward to the release of Heroes of Might and Magic 5.
Oh, Corribus, don’t you also have a confession to make?

It appears that we fantasy gaming geeks are being persecuted and denied opportunities just for being who we are.
We shall seek government redress for this loss of our rights. We demand government set-asides in jobs, grants, and loans. We demand that slander and slurs of any fantasy gamer be prosecuted as a hate crime. Further, we demand that the government make reparations for past discrimination in the form of:
- An executive order, signed by President Bush, requiring all employers allow gamers two hours of game playing, on company time, per day
- “Fantasy Gaming Studies” departments created and federally funded at all universities that accept federal funding
- An Exotic dancer assigned to every gamer
- Free internet access
- Preview copies of all new fantasy games releases
Arise my brothers and sisters! (You too, Corribus!)
